About
Examined is a psychology and self-development journal grounded in research. Not self-help. Not life hacks. Considered writing about how the mind works — and what that means for how we live.
The name is borrowed from Socrates: "The unexamined life is not worth living." We take that as a working principle, not a verdict. Examining how we think, feel, and make decisions is not a luxury — it's what allows us to act with more clarity and less unconscious noise.
Each article is grounded in psychological research — citing real studies, naming real researchers, engaging with what the evidence actually says rather than what makes a clean narrative. Where findings are contested, we say so. Where the research is preliminary, we say so.
Topics covered include cognitive biases, habit formation, emotional regulation, motivation, decision-making, stress, resilience, and identity — the core psychological mechanisms that shape daily experience.
No "five steps to a better mindset." No content designed to confirm what you already believe. No wellness trends without evidence. If something doesn't hold up to scrutiny, we're not interested in writing about it.
